Arawak Mums by Bethsarim van Koetsveld was started in 2009, the first pouch sling was made in September of 2009 for a mom I met at a Moedergroep by Pro Lechi Mama. Before that evening I had researched how to make a sling, what materials to use and had actually made a prototype design to test.
Initially the vision was to make a wholly Aruban product for Aruban moms. Some time later it became evident that the trendy rings were not locally available, that cute fabrics that mom’s would actually want were not easily found on the island and so, everything changed.
I currently order all decorative fabrics online and some materials locally, and of course all rings are from SlingRings.com, making your sling safe, fun and fabulous!
I started ordering fabrics online, on a monthly basis and Angie Geerman, joined me for a bit making Mei Tai’s. She was very busy tending to her three children and was obligated to stop. Ever since, Arawak Mums, has been operated exclusively by me.
